Through curiosity, we can seek greater understanding. I've always looked for it, especially when it came to things beyond my familiarity. I felt the best way to explore curiosity further was to travel and find out what it really means. As a result, I often found myself out of my comfort zone. Aside from experiences that brought me connected to holistic health, wellness, and a facilitator in various roles, I have also had the very human experience of overcoming trauma -- from mild to complex trauma in childhood and adult life.
Through weaving together a background in holistic health, guiding international wellness retreats, and as a trauma trained somatic practitioner, I'm devoted to encourage a safe and supportive space for you to feel connected and at ease in your life's experiences and journey.
I believe there is a deep knowing of experience that we can tap into within the layers of our minds and bodies. For me it began with a background in cultural studies during my Bachelor of Arts degree. I studied Sociology/Anthropolgy and International Development that became more expansive with an opportunty to study in India where rich tapestries of color, ancient civilizations, and drinking chai on street corners brought me into a deep connection in discovering ways of knowing.
Travel to India at a young age upleveled my curiosity, and I enjoyed being in new countries and embracing wild natural places. When I completed my BA degree, I went to Japan as an English teacher. I began the study of Shodo arts (the art of calligraphy), mindfulness and Zen meditation, and was drawn to the expansion and connection of stilling the mind. The life and culture of Japan are incredibly influenced by natural simplicity. I returned to Canada and completed a Masters in Environmental Studies (MES) based on my passion for nature-based exploration.
Specializing in holistic health and healing was natural for me and I explored the role and influence of natural medicine on our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Around the same time, I was training in herbal medicine making with a local traditional Herbalist, apprenticing and manufacturing medicine for Naturopathic Doctors.
The fascination with healing, people and plant relationships brought me on field research to Costa Rica where I developed an education program on the sensory experiences of medicinal plants. I was immersed in understanding how we can uplift our senses and perceive how our environment and nature affects our senses, very much related to my current somatic work. At the same time, my passion for Latin America took hold. Shortly thereafter, I was offered a position to work for a travel company that started off in the Andes of Peru, and my joy of being immersed with people, new cultures and integrating experiences fell in perfect alignment.
Combined with many other opportunties, facilitating travel journeys in Latin America turned into over a decade of walking with people from around the world in challenging and inspirational contexts. When the world of adventure and travel filled my experiences with a lot of movement and activity, it was the practice of yoga that I had begun in my teen years kept me grounded through some of the most difficult and agitating times. I had spent over a decade as a student of yoga before I became a certified yoga teacher in 2008. With almost 20 years of experience, practice and teaching in Hatha and Restorative yoga styles in private, group and global retreat settings, I am a well-versed yoga instructor.
Facilitating yoga adventures while living in Brazil brought me into deeper connection with myself and those with whom I worked. I encouraged safe and supportive spaces to surrender, be more aware, and connect through postures, movement and breath. Yet, the deeper layers of our lives and the stories we tell ourselves and others requires attention and be tended to in order for subtle and/or radical shifts to take place for the betterment of our lives.
Somatic therapy is a mind-body based therapy with a wide range of approaches to seeing how disconnect in the body occurs through lifestyle, demands, overstimulated society and trauma since childhood. Through a variety of lenses, a somatic practitioner brings more balance and connection in a session through the physiological, emotional, cognitive and energetic perspectives and essentially, a holistic experience.
Aside from my professional trauma training as a Somatic Pracitioner, I have gone through several of my own dark nights of the soul finding ways to navigate through difficult and overwhelming experiences. I share about my personal life stories and transformations in the Amazon international #1 best-selling, multi-author book "The Voyage and the Return – The Path to Self-Discovery" .
I'm able to support you and offer guidance in a safe and supportive setting. The results of having sessions with me will encourage you to experience your life with more empowered ease, have a strengthened inner trust compass, and connect with the foundation of your innate wisdom. Most importantly, they will support you in igniting your inner guidance systems.

I work with clients for a three-month or six-month period at a time usually. Single sessions are available upon request.
The 1:1 sessions offer the space for you to be heard, cared for, and have moments to reflect. My therapeutic toolkit offers a variey of modalities to guide you through a safe and supportive experience for a profound transformational journey. We work together with an embodied awareness to overcome imbalances, fractures or overwhelm in your body and nervous system. We address any emotional, physical or energetic symptoms that arise and influence your inner critic, affect your relationships, and reveal how they show up for you.
This leads a process to reconnect with your natural state of balance and wholeness already present in your mind, body and heart.
Together we cultivate an awareness of your story, navigate the narratives that have come along with it, and foster a compassionate process of reclamation through inquiry and appreciation of your experience. Witnessing areas of your life that have held you in survival mode, created anxiety or elevated stress allows for the ability to release stored patterns that affect your everyday living. Together, we can see through the emotional layers and establish new ways of thinking and perceiving experiences. Working in collaboration in the sessions will offer a way to soften and relate to your experiences with wisdom, aliveness and be brought into an empowered place of knowing.
